Sat Sept 10

What a beautiful morning to start a road trip, sunny 50•. Roy only needed to use the whistle once and it was “wheels up” at 8 and on our way to tour Vaughn Veits private car collection in Monticello.

What a great day. After Veits we stopped at the Weyerhouser museum just south of Little Falls, very interesting museum. The Charles Lindbergh house was to be our next stop but it was closed for the season. Lunch stop in Randall, next stop was Akeley where the tallest Paul Bunyan is, see the pic’s. The Mississippi headwaters was our last stop of the day. Walked across the mighty teeny Miss, no one fell in the water. Had a wonderful dinner at the historic Douglas Lodge with good friends, food and wine. Topped off the evening with a campfire at the clubhouse along with good ole s’mores, beer, fun and laughter.
